Kenrokuen garden is ranked as one of the top three gardens in Japan. It is designated as a national special scenic cultural treasure. It is a garden where you can travel while enjoying the scenery and is dotted with ponds, teahouses, and ornamental mountains. From it’s inception the park was carefully designed to have plants blooming throughout the year making every season special.

Kaga Hyakumangoku Family Temple where you can enjoy the seasonal atmosphere. A temple of the Soto sect built in 1623 to honor the 3rd lord Toshitsune Maeda, and the lowful wife Tamahime. Yamamon is the oldest double gate in Ishikawa Prefecture, and is also a designated tangible cultural property of Ishikawa Prefecture.

It is a museum where you can feel spirit of Suzuki Daisetsu from Kanazawa, one of the foremost Buddhist philosophers enshrined in Kanazawa. Through his calligraphy, photos, and writings, you can learn and think about his thoughts and his trace his path through life. Built on the residence of Yoshiro Taniguchi, an architect from Kanazawa who designed the Togu Imperial Palace and the Tokyo National Museum Toyokan. Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, the eldest son of Yoshiro and the world-renowned architect who designed the Museum of Modern Art in New York and GINZA SIX.

One of the three Kanazawa chaya districts, along with the Higashi Chaya district and Kazuemachi Chaya district. One of the highlights is the Kanazawa Nishi Chaya Museum, built on the site of the tea house where the writer, Seijiro Shimada spent time. At dusk, beautifully dressed geisha walks around the town, and the shamisen plays, and you can feel the night of the art town Kanazawa.

Myoryuji in Kanazawa City, known as the Ninja Temple. It is a temple with a variety of tricks, from the main hall with the secret room to hide the lords Samurai, numerous hidden staircases, a room for committing harakiri and pitfalls. The inside looks like a maze and is said to be impossible to exit once entered, and guidance is required.

The Sai River flows gently along the west side of Kanazawa Castle. There are promenades on both banks that provide a place for many citizens and tourists to relax. The riverbed with green grass is recommended for walking and jogging. When Atsuhime or Kurofune came, it was a townhouse shop founded in 1848. Over 170 years of handmade goodness, it has contributed to the usual confectionery culture in Kanazawa, and now husband and wife make sweet bean paste, steamed bun (manju) and sell that. The store is a fine townhouse that is also designated as a cultural asset of the city.

Founded in 1923 (Taisho Era 12). A vinegar shop that is made by the natural brewing method (stationary fermentation method) that slowly ferments in a tank, which is rare in Japan. By making vinegar after making sake (boiled rice cake, unrefined sake), the brewing process is rich in extract, and it has a mild taste.

Founded in 1896 (Meiji 29). A brewer of “Tenyu” soy sauce and miso which famous Kanazawa restaurant chefs use. Because it is carefully made with no additives and domestic ingredients, and it takes time and fermented to mature, it has a delicious taste.

Natural water used by the Kanazawa sake brewery Fukumitsuya to make sake. The rain and snow that falls on Hakusan soaks deeply into the ground, and slowly arrives at Fukumitsuya over the course of 100 years, while slowly melting minerals. This natural water drawn from 150 meters underground.

SLOPE
Kanazawa is a town with many rising and falling roads.
There are the Sai River and Asano River flowing through the city of Kanazawa, and on both sides of these two rivers are the Teramachi Plateau, Kodatsuno Plateau, and Utatsuyama. Therefore, rising and falling roads are scattered everywhere. In addition, there are many old slopes because there are so few changes in the town that old maps from the Edo period can be used. The winding roads create a attractive landscape. Why do not you try to find your favorite hill among such many hills?
